Sam is a multidisciplinary designer based in Brooklyn, NYC. She holds a BFA in Communication Design from Parsons School of Design, was previously the Design Director at Loftie, and is always open to freelance work.

Frank
backA two-book critique that explores how design shapes a reader’s perception of complex subject matter. Frank uses visual language borrowed from the food industry, including color, layout, and cues associated with comfort and familiarity, to create an inviting surface that contrasts with the weight of its content.

The series consists of two publications, Spiked and Processed, which examine the soda and cereal industries through collected research, articles, and product examples. Rather than presenting this information in a traditionally dense or editorial format, the content is framed through a system that feels approachable and easily digestible at first glance.

This contrast is intentional. By pairing a bright, accessible aesthetic with layered and often unsettling subject matter, the project reflects the way food products are marketed, appearing appealing on the surface while obscuring their complexity beneath. In doing so, Frank encourages readers to question not only what they consume, but how design influences their willingness to engage in the first place.
